Stills - Spring Summer 2008
The Stills Spring Summer 2008 collection demonstrates that the search for new, relaxed shapes can go hand in hand with
femininity and sophistication. Whilst the silhouette is dominated by loose shapes, emphasis is placed on the waist with the use
of belts. The summer collection was inspired primarily by exotism, which is expressed in four main themes.
CASABLANCA FLAUNTING
The mood is that of a blood-red night on the Moroccan coast: a palette of soft purple coloured by the setting sun mixed with
deep browns, hard pinks and reds.
Silk dominates the materials and when combined with cotton offers a contemporary perspective in a strong graphic flower
print. Linen, soft to the touch and feminine, is combined with leather in long flowing coats that close with a knotted belt and
leather detailing along the neckline and wrists. Lurex adds a little evening glamour here and there, in loose, bolero-shaped cardigans
or long tunics. The combination of long tunics or short coats or cardigans on slim pants makes for modern proportions.
The ultra wide, high-waist pants are reintroduced and complete the picture of ‘flirting on the boulevard’.
COSMIC DANCER
With a glance to the future: a range of greys contrasting with pure white. A hint of silver here and there as an accent on T-shirts
or sweaters, a print of abstract butterflies on light silk for halter tops and loose shirts. Worn with cotton that has a super-technical
feel, it makes for the ultimate business combination; strong shapes thanks to trendy pencil skirts and cigarette pants on
one hand, and on the other, loose silhouettes with artfully draped tops or wide, nearly transparent tunics.
GOLDEN SAVANNAH
Browns and soft beiges dominate this theme, highlighted by gold. An unconsciously African mood due to graphic prints in neutral
hues. Linen and cotton ensure a recognisable, natural material mix. Skirts are asymmetric and are worn with short cotton
bolero jackets. Sleeveless long silk dresses with butterfly prints. A special touch is added by the subtly transparent sweaters and
long cardigans in a linen mix.
BIRDS OF PARADISE
Inspired by the lively colouring of exotic birds: a modern mix of emerald green, black and grey or coral red, white and sand.
The shapes are exotic with kaftans in printed silk, transparent tunics and loose knits detailed with pearls and stones. Little silk
dresses and organdy skirts in bright hues make for that festive feeling. Everything makes you dream about pearly white beaches
in the Bahamas and sultry nights in the Caribbean that never seem to end ...
